Resources to Assist in Addressing the Vatican Report on Theodore McCarrick

On Tuesday, November 10, 2020, the report from the Vatican was released on the abuse allegations against Theodore McCarrick. The hurt, anger, and feelings of betrayal of trust from this announcement in 2018 are still present in ourselves, our parishioners, our clergy, as well as survivors and their families.

This report may reopen the wounds of trauma for many Catholics, especially those who have been hurt by sexual abuse.

We desire for our parishes and schools to be safe environments for all people to live, learn and grow in their Faith. Archbishop Listecki outlined the ways in which abuse can be reported, click here to view. All of us play an important part in holding each other accountable to our commitment to protecting the vulnerable in our parishes, schools, and communities. Please know that we encourage anyone with any concerns regarding abuse or misconduct to report those concerns to the appropriate civil authorities, or to the Victim Assistance Coordinator, Stephanie Delmore, at 414-758-2232.

If there is anyone in your parish who is struggling with processing the feelings from this report or wishes to talk to someone, please contact Stephanie Delmore at 414-758-2232 to connect that person with resources or support.

If we can help support you or your parish in any way, please do not hesitate to contact the Safe Environment Office for assistance.

St. Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us.
